LYDIA ROMCZUK, of Lethbridge, predeceased by her husband Anton Romczuk and daughter Gertrude Sweeney, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the age of 98 years, with her family by her side. Lydia is the last of eight siblings. She is survived by daughter Anna Hipsh of Toronto, ON, Luba (Edmund) Ruff of Lethbridge, Elsie (Larry) Oligmueller of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Peter Romczuk of Lethbridge. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was born February 10, 1913 in Borokuti, Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1954 with her family to Lethbridge. Lydia took most pride in her gardening till it became too much for her as she grew tired with age. Aside from gardening Lydia enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting.
The visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always welcomed and enjoyed. “Mutti, Oma, Schlaf in ruhe.” Funeral Services will be held at CHRIST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 416-12th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jason Anderson, officiating.
