RITS KIMURA

RITSUKO ‘RITS’ KIMURA, beloved wife of the late Minoru Kimura, passed away quietly at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Calgary, AB, on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the age of 90 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children George, Mikio, Aiko (Marshall), Phyillis and Vincent; and siblings Sadako Tagami; Toshiyuki, Sakae, Mary (Takayuki) and Susie (Minoru) Saruwatari and Jeannie Takahashi. Rits will be deeply missed by her seven grand children and eight great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Rits is predeceased by her loving parents, her loving husband Minoru, son Isao, grandson Jason Marshall, siblings Kashiko, Toshiko (Ikari), Takayuki and Minoru. Rits was born November 15th 1918 in Kumamoto, Japan, the second daughter of Juzo and Ai Saruwatari. Juzo left Japan and immigrated to Canada in 1918 to homestead in Raymond, Alberta. Ai and Rits joined Juzo in Canada on January 2, 1923. Rits ably assisted her father with all manner of farm chores, and her mother in raising her many siblings. If the goodness of an individual is based upon how others shine in her presence, then Rits is truly an enlightened and blessed soul. Her life was lived with ‘dignity and grace’. Funeral services will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Yasuo Izumi officiating. Attendees are invited to share refreshments immediately following the service. A private internment will take place at the Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Society, #402, 740 - 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9.
