With great sadness we announce the passing of Gladys Reive, beloved wife of John Reive. Gladys passed away at home on September 15, 2021, after a long battle with lung disease, at the age of 84.
She is survived by her spouse John, brother Robert, children Kathy, Ron, Brian, Richard, grandchildren Jack, Andrew, Abi, Will, Sarah, Ian and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents Mary and Fabian Alexandrovich, infant brother Ronald, sister Jeanette, and sister-in-law Zelma.
Gladys graduated from Glenwood High School and the Galt School of Nursing in 1958. She loved to travel, especially to Southeast Asia and China, and to spend time with family and friends.
She was always quick with a sarcastic comment or knowing look. She was a master cook, seamstress and mother to her unruly children who entertained everyone who sat behind them in church.
Gladys was an excellent teacher as she taught her husband John at a late age "where the forks are kept".
Gladys was an authentic person evidenced by the fact she had friendships that lasted a lifetime. Gladys truly cherished these friendships as many felt more like family.
To know Gladys was to love her. We will carry her in our hearts and will miss her every day.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH (2405 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB), at 11:00 AM, with Father Derek Remus Celebrating.
