Reid, Robert William

ROBERT WILLIAM REID, beloved husband of Betty, of Lethbridge and formerly of Millet, AB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the St. Michael's Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 at the age of 91 years.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by his three children: Michael of Vernon, BC; David (Johanne) of Lethbridge, AB; Heather of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jonathan, Cecilia, Frances, Jacob and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was born in Alberta, served in the air force during WWII then took advantage of the education opportunity awarded to veterans after the war. He obtained his PhD of which his subject of study was the mountain pine beetle and went on to have a distinguished 31 year career with the Federal Forest Service.

Next to Betty and family, Rob's great love was for horses. This passion for horses and the outdoors led him on many adventures on the prairies and in the Rockies. Along the way he developed many friendships with accomplished members of the horse community.

He requested his passing be without fanfare (no funeral or service). Those of you who knew him will not be surprised these were his wishes. His family and close friends will honor him this summer with a gathering in the Rocky Mountains he loved so dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, 1400 - 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 4V5.
