Growing up, he played varsity basketball at St. Mary’s High School and later participated in the Indian Rodeo Cowboy Association as a Team Roper and partner for the late John Many Chief. Calvin was a hard worker and was seldom unemployed, his employment history included work as a carpenter for Kainai Industries, as a contractor for Blood Tribe Public Works and most recently as a certified Security Guard for the Blood Tribe Administration; going above and beyond his duties ensuring the safety of employees and public alike at the Human Resources Building.
Calvin married the love of his life in 1995. Together they raised Nelson and Cody and recently added three grandchildren that Calvin cherished and loved with all his heart. The best times were spending time at home with the little ones getting all the hugs and kisses they demanded to give him. ‘Pappa’ was their main man. Calvin’s laugh is something that will never be forgotten. He was compassionate, someone to talk to about anything and everything. He had an uncanny ability to bring a smile to your face no matter how rough the day. He was a positive role model and mentor for the young people in his life. He had a great passion for junk food and never missed an opportunity to share with his family. Calvin was a provider and took a fatherly role to his nieces and nephews when it was required. Calvin always cared for others and never expected anything in return.
