Priscilla "Pat" Abel

Priscilla “Pat” Garvin was born in 1942, in Wadena, Saskatchewan, and was the daughter of Grace and Frank Garvin. Eventually, Pat moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan, where she met the love of her life, Robert Abel, and married him on January 17, 1958, celebrating 63 years of marriage before her husband’s passing in January 2022. During these years, they went on to raise their five children (three boys and two girls), all one-year apart, and eventually moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1975.

Pat will always be remembered for working at the Green Acres Drive-In, with her family, and then supporting her husband while they were managing the Haig Tower downtown for a number of years.

She enjoyed crocheting for her family (slippers for everyone) and making many Christmas ornaments to ensure every child had an abundance of them to share with their children. She also enjoyed playing bingo at Lucky’s Bingo, taking family trips to Las Vegas, going on road trips with her husband in their customized van, playing cards with friends at the Blue Sky Lodge and playing many games of Yahtzee with her family.

She was a devoted wife who spent many years taking care of her husband’s medical conditions and many nights by his side when he was hospitalized; never being too far apart from the love of her life.

Pat is survived by her children: Bob (Susan), Terry (Frank), Wendy (Willy), Jim (Arlene), and daughter-in-law (Mary); as well as, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her siblings, and most recently on June 12, 2026, her son, Wayne.

Cremation will be entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A Private Family Graveside service will be held at a later date, when once again, Mom will be laid to rest with Dad. She has been waiting for this day to come. May they both now rest in peace together again.
