POTTS, TYRONE SR. Aapoyiis’komaapii JANUARY 1, 1940 - JULY 6, 2011

Our dearest Husband, Dad, Brother, Grandpa and Uncle passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 71. Tyrone was born and raised on the Piikani Nation and received his education at St. Cyprian’s Residential School. Tyrone will be sadly missed by his wife Martha and Children: Tyrone Jr. (Denise), Lance, Warren (Joan), Colin (Janet), Richard (Doris) Fox, Terry (Jennifer) Ivins, Mary (Rex) Bird, Tom Fox and Marsha (Doug) Nottenbohmer. He is also survived by his siblings: Ken (Wendy), Melvin, Maudie and Bruce (Elaine). Tyrone will be sadly missed by his 13 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren and numerous relatives.
Tyrone was predeceased by his parents Pete and Nellie Potts, Sisters: Eliza and Beatrice, Brothers: Jerry and Henry.
Tyrone worked in many areas throughout his lifetime he worked as a carpenter and Heavy Equipment Operator, he also worked at the Shell Plant as a pipefitter. He enjoyed many sports as he was an outstanding athlete, he enjoyed boxing and playing hockey for the Peigan Oldtimers and Pincher Creek Sulphur Kings. Not only did Tyrone enjoy playing hockey he enjoyed watching and supporting the Peigan Cowboy’s Hockey Team. He was at every game and cheered for the team and supported them in anyway he could. Tyrone travelled all over Canada and the United States and working along the way at various jobs. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his family and hosting barbeques with Martha, and they especially loved having their grandchildren and great-grandchildren over to play. Tyrone was a fan of rodeo’s he enjoyed watching the cowboys’ compete against each other and cheering for them as they made their debut in the rodeo arena, he could be seen talking to people from near and far as he was a man who was friendly, and made friends easily wherever he went. Tyrone enjoyed playing Bingo as one of his past times he and Martha would be seen in the Bingo halls playing and talking with everyone they met. The family would like to thank Dr. Cathy Scrimshaw and the nursing staff of the Pincher Creek Hospital for their compassionate care and support they had given to Tyrone.
The Wake service will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the residence of Tyrone and Martha Potts. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Piikani Nation Community Hall on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 with Archdeacon Sidney Black Officiating.
