ARTHUR JAMES PLEWES, beloved husband of Marlene Plewes passed away suddenly but peacefully in Lethbridge, Alberta, on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 74. After cancer surgery in November 2010 he enjoyed relatively good health until he left us. Art was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on July 20, 1937, to Howard and Rita Plewes. He received his education in Maple Creek. After completing training to teach in Business Colleges, he taught for many years. He ended that career with Henderson College of Business, in Calgary and Lethbridge. In his early forties he changed careers and was employed as an accountant/administrator for Logic Lumber, retiring in June 2007. Art is survived by the love of his life Marlene of 44 years, son Darcy (Bonnie) Plewes, two grandchildren Brandon and Sue Ann whom he adored, brother George (Norma) Plewes of Bermuda, sister Alice Eichhorn of Saskatoon, brothers-in-law Wayne Chute and Gary Chute of Lethbridge, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Rita Plewes and brother-in-law Archie Eichhorn. He was an active member of his church and served as pianist/organist, as well as elder and deacon at various times. It was a joy for him to attend church to worship and fellowship with friends. The piano has always been his inspiration and he started playing as organist/pianist in churches at age 16. Travel was one of the pleasures Art enjoyed. There were many good times traveling in Canada and the United States to visit family and friends or just to tour around. Some of his favorite places to visit were the mountains and the ocean. Art was a loving, kind, strong, giving, dependable person with a warm smile and a good sense of humor. He will be missed by many but most of all by his loving family. We will always cherish our time together and hold him in our memory. One of his favorite bible verses was Proverbs 3:5,6 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Olaf Clausen officiating.
