I considered Platon my friend. I miss him very much. We only knew each other at the YMCA pool. He was such a very fine swimmer. We often swam in adjacent lanes and had chats before/after lap swimming. He was such a kind, caring, loving person. I recently did a support swim. I felt Platin there almost coaching me along. I will always remember him - his big heart. Thank you Platon for the swim times we shared. You remain with me in the pool. Your friend, Pat

It was with a heavy heart that we learned of Platon's passing. He was such an energetic young man obviously filled with a passion for life. Although he was only with our program briefly, we enjoyed his companionship and his drive. Even with a stent in his chest, he wanted to wrestle and compete. A true spirit that we will miss.

Dear Lord, we come to you with heavy hearts, as we mourn the loss of our Platon..... We ask for your grace and mercy to ease our pain of the Romaniuks, and comfort all the broken hearts. Help the Chinook Family remember our Platon with love and joy, and never forget his impact on our lives....I leave you with this scriptures in Rev 21:4.... "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" It is well with your souls.

Platon was loved by all who knew him. He wore his heart on his sleeve and he was always there for our son,Zach, when he needed someone to listen. We will be forever grateful for your friendship to Zach. Heaven gained an angel when you took your last breath. You were loved and will be missed. Service, Inna, Sofiia, and Vira: we pray that God holds you all close and gives you strength and comfort in knowing Platon is with Him now. You raised a beautiful, kind and compassionate young man and he will never be forgotten. We are heartbroken for you all. We send our love and prayers to all of you. -Dave and Alisha Velthuis

My condolences. Such a tough year for Chinook grade 10s. So sorry to hear of your loss. Especially, from one mom to another, both losing our sons this school year… I know how hard it is. Know the community is here for you and your whole family. Much love to you.

My heart just breaks for the loss of this beautiful, strong, kind, smart and talented soul. Have you seen this Platon play guitar?! He was so incredible! I was always amazed by your strength and perseverance. Knowing you were fighting this battle, but always living life to the fullest, taking care of yourself, and enjoying the time you had with your friends; you are an inspiration. To know you has been a true gift. You were one of a kind, and am so grateful for your friendship with Eli. Our whole family going to miss your presence. You really made an impact on all of us, and you will never be forgotten.

Words cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of Platon. He was such a bright, talented and kind kid. He used to walk to our house with my nephew Eli just to say hi and throw a ball around with my kids, when we lived on the west side. The world needs more people like him. His absence will be felt by so many ❤️❤️
