Wilson, Phillip

September 23, 1952

September 13, 2025

Phillip "Phil" Douglas Wilson, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Yvonne Wilson (née Aubin), father to his only child, Adam, and Papa to his two grandchildren Tiffany and Xander, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the age of 72.

Phil was born in Wainwright, AB. on September 23, 1952 to William and Rosemary Wilson, the youngest of seven children. He was raised in Edgerton, Alberta, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and joined the Army Cadets. In 1971, he moved to Pincher Creek to work for his brother-in-law at Pincher Station, “Union 76 Gas Station”. Phil met Yvonne in 1972 and they married in 1974, prior to residing in Lethbridge, AB. Then he worked at Union 76 Magrath Service, where he started his apprenticeship for Motor Mechanics in 1976. Upon receiving his journeyman’s certificate, he began employment at Nick’s Husky Service in 1979. He worked there for many years and enjoyed working on small engines and occasionally large engines. Later on, he worked as a parts person for various businesses in Lethbridge until his retirement. He had a deep love for the mountains west of Pincher Creek; he’d load up the trailer and his family and head for the hills camping, and meeting up with friends and family. So much fun and good times and memories were had, putting smiles on everyone’s faces and the laughter could be heard for miles, especially his.

Phil enjoyed his grandchildren, singing to Tiffany on the phone, playing with Xander on the kitchen floor and keeping an eye out for their spontaneous antics that kept grandpa on his toes. Phil also enjoyed socializing at the Royal Canadian Legion, until his health sadly kept him home bound.

Phil was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Walter, Gerald, and Gordon; sisters, Dorothy MacGowan and Marjorie Bourque, brother-in-law Jim Johnson, two sisters-in-law, nephew Robert “Doug” Wilson and father-in-law Ed Aubin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Yvonne, son Adam, grandchildren Tiffany and Xander, sister Mary Johnson (Lacombe), brothers-in-law: Dan MacGowan (Kelowna), and Ralph Bourque (Pincher Creek), sister-in-law Ev Allan (Vernon), mother-in-law Blanche Aubin (Lethbridge), Lucille (Vern) Thompson, Maurice Aubin, Leo (Tammy) Aubin, and Pauline (Dick) Durina as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. His boisterous laugh and his sense of humor will be missed.

At Phillip’s request, there will be no funeral service held.

In memory of Phil and in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Poppy Fund, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 3L7.
