MR. GORDON DAVID PETTY, born August 29, 1921, Galt, Ontario to October 2, 2010, Lethbridge, Alberta. Beloved father of Elaine Gruninger (Bryan), Dini Petty and David Petty. Grandfather of Robert, David, Nicholas and Samantha. Husband of 50 years to Molly Petty (deceased), brother of Dorothy Petty (deceased). A WW2 veteran, he served in the Canadian Army from 1939 to 1945 in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany as a member of the Canadian Army Film Corp. His career in the film industry included going to Africa in 1952 with National Geographic, working for the Canadian Film Board, establishing his own special effects and animation studio, Film Technique Ltd. In Toronto, Ontario and working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as an animation specialist. During most of his life he lived and worked in Toronto, Ontario but after the death of his beloved wife Molly he moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to be with his daughter Elaine and family. In his last year of his life he resided at St. Therese’s Villa in Lethbridge. Many thanks to the staff at St. Therese’s Villa and to Dr. J. Haberman.
