It is with very sad and heavy hearts that the family announces that ALFRED PEDRINI, beloved husband of Leona passed away suddenly and unexpectedly en route by STARS to Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the age of 84 years. Alfi was born on January 25, 1928 in Coalhurst, Alberta to Luigi and Emma Pedrini. He grew up on the family farm in the community of Diamond City, where he also attended school. He started school not knowing any English. He had so many wonderful memories of his childhood and loved to share them.
Alfi worked for Canadian Freightways for 35 years where he was the first employee to retire from the Lethbridge warehouse division. Anyone who knew Alfi knows how talented he was with wood. He spent many hours in his garage building or fixing something. He was very hands on with the renovation of the house. He enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful yard. Alfi had a zest for life, and his greatest love was spending time with his family, who meant the world to him. He touched many lives over the years and will be sadly missed. Alfi is survived by his wife of 56 years, Leona (Davidson) and daughters Kalie (Dean Courtice) Miller & Cindy (Garth) Sandau of Red Deer. His grandchildren Brandon Miller, Ashley (Ramsey) Ehret, Skyelar Sandau and Makayla Sandau and his precious little great-granddaughter, Rylee Joy Ehret, all of Red Deer.
Alfi is also survived by his brothers, Ezio (Lillian) and Nino (Gail), his sister Dorrie Asplund, step sister Angie (Ken) Huisman, his brother-in-law Floyd (Nellie) Davidson, sister-in-law Ruth Powell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, Luigi Pedrini & Emma Comai, his stepfather Arthuro Comai, brother-in-law Charles Asplund, sister-in-law Irene McDermott, mother-in-law Evelyn Davidson and nephews Calvin and Darren Fuller. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Alfi’s life at a later date to be announced. Cremation has taken place and he will be placed to rest with both his mother and father. If so desired, donations may be made to the Lethbridge Humane Society (SPCA), PO Box 783, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 3Z6 or STARS, 416-10 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, T1H 2C7, in memory of Alfi.
