PEARL STRUTH

MRS. PEARL ELEANOR STRUTH beloved wife of the late Mr. James Struth of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her family by her side on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the age of 71 years. She is survived by her children: Debbie (Stephan) Lacusta and their children Chantel and Stephanie, Norman (Trudi) Struth and their children Nicole and Lauren, Patrick Struth (Candy Hildebrand); one brother Donald (Donna) Olson, one sister Sylvia (Dennis) Koldon; sister-in-law Norma Struth as well as numerous other relatives. Pearl was predeceased by her husband James Struth, parents Perley and Helen Olson; and eldest brother Eugene Olson. Pearl was born November 14, 1937 in Carman, Manitoba. She was raised and educated in southern Manitoba. After a short courtship, she married the love of her life, James Struth on May 4, 1957. Pearl experienced the military life during the early years of marriage while her husband was stationed at various Canadian Armed Forces postings in Canada and Europe. Their daughter was born in 1958, while stationed in Germany. Upon returning to Canada, their two sons were born in 1960 and 1964 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pearl worked at the Brandon University for several years in Food Services. In 1975, the family moved to Lethbridge, Alberta and Pearl worked as Restaurant Manager at the Red Grill in Woolco until her retirement. Pearl loved camping, knitting, playing cards, and travelling with her family. She enjoyed playing BINGO and was a committed season ticket holder of the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Her summer loves were watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Winnipeg Bluebombers on T.V. Her four granddaughters held a very special place in her heart and she always loved spending time with them. Pearl was a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the Royal Canadian Legion and an Honourary Member of the Korean Veterans Association. She will be lovingly missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 5B, Dr. Burton, Dr. Wong, and Dr. Lee at the Chinook Regional Hospital as well as all the friends and family that took time to visit and phone during her extended stay in the hospital. A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., with Francis & Cybele Noronha officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in the Field of Honour. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 210D - 12 ‘A’ Street North, Lethbridge, AB., T1H 2J1 or a charity of your choice. Mom, you will be sadly missed this Mother’s Day.
