PAULINE THREE PERSONS

At sundown on Sunday, August 23, 2009 PAULINE THREE PERSONS - MIA’NISTOHPOISSKIAAKII left for the spirit world to rejoin her parents Willie and Lily Eagle Plume and step mother Mary Crane Chief. In spite of having beaten cancer 25 years earlier, the disease had struck again and was able to steal her from us this time.

Pauline was born on January 8, 1931 at the Blood Indian Hospital to Willie and Lily (Spotted Bull) Eagle Plume. She died on August 23, 2009 at the Cardston Municipal Hospital.

Natural and adopted siblings who had predeceased her were her sisters Alice Black Rabbit, Annie Devine, Annie Big Head, Margaret Fox, Emma Many Feathers, Bibiane Eagle Child and Mary Plain Woman and brothers Claude, Sandy, Ken, Thomas and Joe Eagle Plume, Ed Little Bear, Tom Holy Singer and Albert Mountain Horse.

As well as her remaining siblings Frank (Rosabel) Eagle Plume and Joanne (Phillip), Cynthia and Phillip Jr. Wolf Child, Pauline is survived by her aunt Theresa Vielle. Relatives, friends and some of the many young Kainai whom she had taken as her own were at her bedside when she passed on. Phyllis Fox was with her to the end.

When she was a younger woman, Pauline used to express her disappointment that she had not been able to bear children during her short marriage to Jessie Three Persons. However as she matured she began to informally adopt many of the children of friends and relatives as her grandchildren.

As a consequence she became a grandmother to her special grandson, Casey Many Fingers, Brandon, Jenna, Keira and Alexandra Fox, Nico Gros Ventre Boy, Kagan Fox, Zana, Amanda, Jessica, Maggie, Chez and Bella Fox, Willy, Tera, Tomi (Squeaky) and Miika Many Fingers and Carter Little Shields.

She herself was adopted by the families of George and Margaret Fox, John and Gertrude Fox, George and Emma Many Feathers, and Danny and Penny Many Fingers. It was sometimes difficult for her to choose which home to go to at Christmas because all of her families wanted her at their place. Pauline’s extended family includes the Vielles, Spotted Bulls, Crow Chiefs, Plain Womans, Crows, Royals, Eagle Childs, Little Bears, Chief Moons, Low Horns, Foxes, Many Chiefs, Wolf Childs, Hoofs, Long Time Squirrels and Red Guns.
