EDWARD "EDDIE" PARENTEAU, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Paulette Parenteau, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary AB, on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the age of 82 years.
Eddie was born in Wakaw Saskatchewan on January 8, 1940 to Herman and Helen Parenteau. Later in his life on "his way to Montreal to play for his beloved Canadiens" he met and fell in love with Paulette Parenteau. They were married in Watson on April 29, 1961.
Being one of fifteen children Edward came from a close-knit family, filled with hockey, fun, laughs and card games. These strong family values were passed on to his three sons, Scott (Shannon), Wayne (Tanya), and Murray (Carla). Eddie and Paulette moved to Lethbridge in 1970, where they travelled the country from hockey arena to ball diamond, cheering on their sons in all their endeavours. Eddie coached his sons and became known by all their friends and families and people in the sporting community around Lethbridge. This coaching status and love from the sporting community didn't stop with his kids, coaching his grandson Kevin (Alicia) hockey, following Brady (Shareen) and Teigen (Lauryn) from sport-to-sport across the country and being number one fan of his grand "babes" Lindsey and Georden (Carson). Nothing could keep Eddie away from cheering on his family at sports (unless the Habs were playing), even now getting to take in his great grand kids, Felix and Benson, as they start their journeys in hockey, baseball and soccer.
He wasn't just dad and grandpa to his family, but grandpa Eddie to numerous kids and parents of his grandchildren. He was loved by everyone who met him, he made them laugh and his presence was enjoyed by all who met him. Whether attending sporting events, visiting relatives, heading to Vegas to try their luck or enjoying the beaches on vacation, Eddie and Paulette made many memories in their 50 years of marriage. He enjoyed basking in the sun while watching his tomatoes' grow, coffee with the Humpty's crew, fishing with the kids and walking through the coulees. When his legs didn't work like they used to, he didn't let that slow him down, trekking everywhere with his sticks, he was still there being the same Grandpa Eddie everyone knew and loved.
Eddie will be missed by so many people, his immediate family, his friends, favorite waitresses, brothers, sisters, in-laws, numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
Grandpa will forever live on in our hearts as well as the rinks and diamonds, forever being our biggest fan.
A Celebration of Eddie's life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2825 32nd Street South, Lethbridge, AB - on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM, with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.
