ARNOLD CHESTER ODEGARD, of Picture Butte, AB, beloved husband of 54 years to Elaine Odegard, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the age of 74 years.

He is the loving father of Grant Odegard (Colleen Hankinson) of Lethbridge and Carolyn (Russ) Wlad of Red Deer. He will always be remembered by his granddaughters: Carley, Robyn and Regan Wlad. Arnold is also survived by his brother-in-law Alan Egland, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.

Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Clara Odegard and half-sister Margaret Mehlen.

Arnold was born and raised on the farm, North of Picture Butte. Farming and ranching was his life and he would have it no other way. Dad loved the country life, being outdoors and close to nature. He always looked forward to a visit from his granddaughters.

Dad would do anything for anyone. His honesty, integrity, kindness, work ethic and common sense earned him the respect from all who knew him. Arnold was an avid gun collector and expert marksman. Dad battled with cancer for the last 18 months of his life. A very special thank you to the Palliative Care team at St. Michael's Health Centre for their kindness.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at a Visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

My condolences to the Odegard family. Elaine, we are no longer neighbors, but I still fondly remember your open door and the times you, I, and Arnold spent around your kitchen table. Grant, it is even longer since you and I were face to face. Just know, I enjoyed your father. My sympathies to you all.

The Odegards have been great friends of ours for many years, in times of sorrow we would like to share this verse from Gods word; For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8 Arnold was truly a man of integrity!

My most sincere condolences on the passing of Arnold. He was such a good, kind man. I got to know him when I worked at Plainsman Sports and we hit it off right away. I stopped at the farm a few times during hunting season and it was a warm welcoming place. He was one of those people I looked forward to seeing. I will miss him. RIP Arnold.
