Neufeldt, Eleanor Frances

ELEANOR FRANCES (WEAVER) NEUFELDT, beloved wife of the late Isaac (Ike) Neufeldt, passed away at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at the age of 92 years.

Eleanor was born in Goshen, Indiana on February 26, 1923 to John E. and Elenora (Kauffman) Weaver. She spent most of her growing up years in the Goshen area. After graduating from Bluffton (Ohio) College in 1945 she worked for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) at their Akron, Pennsylvania office and in Puerto Rico. She then moved back to Bluffton for several years before relocating to Newton, Kansas where she was working when she met Ike in early 1958.

On November 8 of that year they were married in Newton. They settled in Coaldale, Alberta and spent the rest of their lives there. Eleanor was very active in the Coaldale Mennonite Church. She worked for over 20 years as the church secretary and bookkeeper and was a longtime member of the Sunbeam Sewing Circle. She and Ike helped to found the MCC Thrift Store. Eleanor enjoyed travelling, playing games and music.

Eleanor is survived by her children Kevin Neufeldt (Noreen), Bryan Neufeldt (Geum Suk), David Neufeldt (Marie), and Sherilyn Neufeldt-Fast (Arnold); by her grandchildren Paul (Joani), Chris (Katie), Michael (Mae), Joel, Nathan, Thomas, Daniel, and Emily; by her great-grandson Cayden, and by her brother Richard Weaver (Margaret).

Besides her husband and parents, Eleanor is also predeceased by her granddaughter, Rebecca.

The Funeral Service will be held at the COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:30 P.M.

Interment to follow at Coaldale Mennonite Cemetery.
