MR. NELS B. NERGAARD, beloved husband of Mrs. Sharon Nergaard of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael's Health Center, Palliative Care on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the age of 68 years.
Besides his loving wife Sharon, Nels is survived by his son Butch (Wendy) Nergaard and their children Tynan, Dustin and Danielle of Chilliwack, B.C., his daughter Morena Nergaard of Victoria, B.C., his stepdaughter Raelean (Joe) Meli and their children Amanda and Megan of Lethbridge and his stepson Scott (Alicia) Hedrich, Scott's son Robert and their sons Braiden and Brandon of Eckville. He is also survived by his sisters Lil Hazen, Anna Peterson, Norma Penner, Edith Verboom, Karin Kvile, his brother Butch Nergaard along with their families and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Thelma Mould and his brothers Selmer and Norman Nergaard.
Nels was born June 1, 1933 in Bengough, Saskatchewan. In 1951, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was stationed his entire career in Alberta for 27 years, finished as Staff Sergeant at the Lethbridge Detachment. He then sold real estate for the next 7 years with Royal LePage and later farmed near Rocky Mountain House. He retired near Creston, B.C. where he enjoyed gardening. His sense of humour was apparent in his conversations with friends and family. Nels will be dearly missed by all who knew him. At Nels request, no Funeral Service will be held. Cremation.
