MRS. SHIGEMI (SALLY) NAGATA, beloved wife of the late Mr. Satsuki (Stan) Nagata passed away at home on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her children Harry (Bev) Nagata and Ken Nagata of Lethbridge and grandchildren Kerry, Kent, Kristine, Lisa and Byron and great grandchild Herson. She is also survived by siblings: Te Hase, Kay (Kiyo) Moriyama and Herb (Gwen) Urano and nieces and nephew Calvin, Janice, Christine and Sherry. She was predeceased by her husband Satsuki, an infant baby boy, brothers Shig and Yosh and sister Shizuka. Mom was born in New Westminster B.C. in 1918. She married Satsuki on April 26, 1941. They were evacuated to Southern Alberta in 1942 to work in the beet field in the Picture Butte area. Mom and Dad operated the dry cleaning plant and laundromat in Picture Butte for many years until their retirement. Following the move to Lethbridge in 1986, her life was centered around her family and the many friends at both the Haig Tower and Heritage Lodge. Mom enjoyed her independence but her family was truly her love and pride. At mom’s request a private family service was held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend Yasuo Izumi officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. At this time, Koden or flowers are gratefully declined by the family. In memory of Shigemi, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
