MARGARET ADRIENNE MURPHY, died peacefully in Lethbridge on Friday, December 9, 2011. Born in Leeds, England, Adrienne moved to Canada as a young child with her parents Dr. and Mrs. John Bower and her three sisters. She settled in Lethbridge as a young adult and later moved to Vulcan where she raised her family. Adrienne was active in the community pioneering Adult Education in rural southern Alberta communities. As a result, she served as an advisor to the Alberta Minister of Advanced Education and was appointed to the University of Calgary Senate. Adrienne was passionate about her family, and one of the high points of her life was when she and several of her children attended the University of Lethbridge at the same time while she earned her Management Certificate. She loved keeping busy with her many interests: studying literature, sewing, cooking, cake decorating, gardening, and she was a licensed HAM radio operator(VE6 AJR). Adrienne will be missed by her six Children Roisin(Bob) Spitzig, Angelo(LeeAnn Fjield) Murphy, Brian(Marjorie) Murphy, Desmond(Michelle Dancoisne) Murphy, Tony(Susan) Murphy, Sean(Gaetanne) Murphy, and her 12 Grandchildren. Adrienne’s family extends their heartfelt thank you to Dr.Strank, the Palliative Care Team, and the nurses at Community Care.
