Muriel is survived by her three children, Fred Jr., Richard and Colleen; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as her youngest sister Lillian.
She was predeceased by three brothers: John, Albert and Harold; and four sisters: Mary, Margie, Iris and Nancy.
Muriel was born in Shamrock SK, the fifth of nine children. The family moved to Rolling Hills, Alberta in 1930s, where they settled and farmed. There is where she met her future husband, Fred Russell Sr and married on December 10, 1946. They had three children, Fred Jr, Richard and daughter Colleen.
They moved to Brooks in the 1950s, where mom like to play the piano and spend time in her garden. She was an active member of the United Church and sang in the choir. Muriel and husband, Fred, were avid bowlers and liked to spend time with friends and relatives.
Muriel worked at a jewellery store for several years after her husband passed. After she retired, she moved to Lethbridge in 2000 to be closer to her daughter. She remained in Lethbridge until her passing.
At Muriel’s request, no service will be held. Special thanks to staff of Fairmont Extendicare Lethbridge for their excellent care.
