MATILDA “MITZI” JOHNSON, beloved wife of the late Al Johnson of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the age of 87 years.
She is the loving sister of Joseph (Audrey) Samuels of Lethbridge, Dorothy Plattell of Lethbridge, Jennifer (Lionel) Grieve of Lethbridge, Elizabeth MacFarlay of Edmonton, William (Jennifer) Wheeler of Toronto, Evelyn (Len) Mendes of Calgary, Christine Wheeler of Calgary, Yvonne (Robert) Edwards of Medicine Hat, Richard (Sheri) Samuels of Irma, Karlyne (Carla) Samuels of Coaldale, Bylinda (William) Mason of Lethbridge, Chrislyn (Bruce) Sekiya of Edmonton, and Ben (Denise) Samuels of Edmonton.
Mitzi is also survived by her brother Joseph Samuels. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ruth Samuels. Mitzi was born in Quette, British India and was the youngest of 9 children; She joined the British Army and later moved to the United Kingdom where she spent most of her adult life. She worked for the British Telecom as a telephone operator. Mitzi met and married a Canadian soldier named Alan Johnson and enjoyed 25 years together. In 1984 Mitzi moved to Canada and resided in Lethbridge until her passing. Mitzi enjoyed dancing and loved being surrounded by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 411 - 11th Street South on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Allan McCuaig Officiating.
