Nap began his career with the city of Lethbridge Parks Department where he worked for sixteen years. During that time, he also served our country overseas during World War II. The next twenty years saw his career flourish as a Union Representative. He was a Director of the National Union of Public Employee’s, Provincial Authority of Pension Board and the president of the Alberta Division of Public Employee’s (C.U.P.E). Nap was instrumental in the development of the Labor Club facilities and was a lifetime member. He was a member of the General Stewart Legion #4 and of the Army and Navy Air Force #34 for 60 years. Nap loved life! His deep love for his wife and his family has given us many fond memories and set a standard by which we try to live. A quote from his granddaughter exemplifies his life: “You are one of my hero’s…not because you won many trophies, fought in the war and did many other noble deeds, but because you are who you are. You have set the bar very high for the men in our lives and even if they never reach the standard that is you, we will forever be grateful for the fact that you showed us what a real man looks like.” Honouring Nap’s request, there will be no funeral service. If you desire, donations may be made in Nap’s name to the Lethbridge Food Bank 1016-2 Ave South Lethbridge, AB T1J 0C9. Nap always said that no man, woman or child should ever go hungry in this great country that we live in.
