MERKL

MR. DANA FRANK MERKL, beloved husband of Martina Merkl, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michaels Health Center, with his family at his side, on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 55 years. Dana was predeceased by his mother, Doreen Merkl and his father, Frank Merkl. Besides his loving wife Martina, he is survived by two sons, Jeremiah Merkl (Carolyn) of Lethbridge and Christopher Merkl of Lethbridge; one daughter, Melissa Merkl of Lethbridge, one brother, Bernie Merkl of Vancouver, B.C., two sisters, Shelley Merkl (Gary English) of Lethbridge and Coreen Warnock (Bill) of Iron Springs, Alta., as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides being a beloved husband and father, Dana was a good friend. Dana and Martina were married on September 22, 1979. He was a man quick to laugh despite the long struggle with multiple strokes since 2002. His quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour (which was with him until the very end) will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 11 A.M., with Pastor Jayson Anderson officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Following the interment service, a reception will be held at the Assumption Catholic Church Hall, 2405-12 Avenue South, Lethbridge.
