It is with great sadness that we announce that our beautiful, loving, and kind mother and grandmother STENA (BLONDIE) MEHEDEN, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the age of 94 years.
It is with great sadness that we announce that our beautiful, loving, and kind mother and grandmother STENA (BLONDIE) MEHEDEN, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the age of 94 years.
Stena was born to Hilda and John Ratke on June 13, 1928 in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. The family moved to the Lethbridge/Coaldale area to farm when she was very young. She married the late Mike Meheden in 1945 and they farmed in the Sunnyside area for 36 years before moving to Lethbridge. Our mom worked hard on the farm but also took part in community activities. She was an amazing cook, baker (especially the themed birthday cakes for her family), seamstress, and gardener.
Stena is survived by three children: Carol King, Joyce (Don) Ober, and Rob Meheden; six grandchildren: Bill King, Brenda (Brian) Hancock, Jason Ober, Krista Ober, Brianna (Shelley) Robinson, and Alyssa (Anthony) Suriano; great-grandchildren Andrea (Brad) Melchin and Darin Bertschi; great-great-grandson Will Melchin; brother Jim (Doris) Ratke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Mike; sister Ruth Meheden; and son-in-law Bill King.
Thanks to the Good Samaritan Park Meadows Cottage One staff, especially Sylvia, your special care was noticed and appreciated.
A private family service will be held.

We were so very sad to hear of Blondie's passing. She was a great neighbor and friend to us and we enjoyed the time we were able to spend talking and visiting with her. Our sincerest sympathies to all of her family.

My Blondie was truly one of a kind! She was so full knowledge and wisdom that I learned so much from her. I have such Great memories! I'll always remember Blondie, my sister and myself watching golden girls, knots landing or playing cards. She was an amazing grandma and I know she is now at peace! My Grandpa Mike and her must be so happy to be together again! I love you and miss you dearly but happy you can both rest in peace now! You'll always have a special place in my heart Blondie?
