STELLA FRANCES (BROWN) MCKENNA passed away suddenly at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 3 days after her 92nd birthday. Stella is survived by her sons; Wayne of Calgary, Doug (Cheryl) of Hay River, NWT and Gary of Edmonton. Stella also leaves behind her sisters Della Verwoerd of Lethbridge and Vicky Allen of Kelowna, B.C., two granddaughters, sisters-in-law Blanche and Anne as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her first husband Frank Brown, second husband Hugh McKenna, brother John Sandusky and older sister Nellie. Stella was born in Coalhurst and raised in Vauxhall. She worked as a beautician when she met Frank Brown and they married on June 23, 1948. They had many enjoyable years together. Stella loved to LAUGH - she also loved to picnic with Frank and the boys. Stella’s passion was her gardening, she grew fabulous tomatoes and the most beautiful geraniums. Stella was always exchanging tips on gardening with her sisters Della and Vicky. She was also an excellent seamstress and sewed a lot of her own clothes and her sons. Stella met the second love of her life, Hugh McKenna and they were married August 30, 2006. Stella resided in the Edith Cavell Nursing Home for the last two years. Stella will be sadly missed by all who mourn her. A Graveside Service will be held at ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY, Westside Drive, West, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.
