It is with gentle relief but broken hearts that we announce the passing of our precious Mom, Nana and G.G., LORENE ANNETTE McCREADY at Extendicare Fairmont on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the age of 98 years.
Mom will be dearly missed by her daughters Brenda (Jim) Clark, Laurie Michelson and Gayle (Murray) McCready Ridgway; grandchildren Erin (Warren) Span, Jill Campbell, Heather (Sam) Gazes, Michelle (Darryl) Jarina and Ryan Clark. She was also the proud G.G. of ten great-grandchildren, Brylan and Hayden Span, Avery and Olivia Jarina, Harper Clark, Hayley and Alyssa Campbell, and Brooklyn, Elias and Lexi Gazes. Mom is also survived by her sister Jeanne Lougheed, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Tom, parents Estelle and Dr. Lawrence Rogers, son-in-law Barry Michelson and her brother Bob Rogers.
Mom was born in Forestburg, Alberta on June 23, 1921. She was delivered at home by her dad who was a country doctor. She followed in her father's footsteps and graduated from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton as an RN in 1944. The career she loved took her from Edmonton to Vancouver and then to Lethbridge.
Mom lived a long, full life. Her passions were family, friends, sewing, painting, golf, gardening and travelling. Mom travelled the world with the Friendship Force, many dear friends and her children. She visited every province in Canada, but particularly loved British Columbia and the Maritimes. What adventures she had and what stories she told.
No matter what challenge Mom was presented, she handled it with strength, grace, positive attitude and a touch of sass. Mom always had a smile on her face.
We love you to pieces "M.L.T.T.C.T." xo

A wonderful lady who was so much fun to be around. My parents were always so excited at the prospect of Tom and Lorene coming to Vancouver and it was because they were both such wonderful people. Our lives were better for knowing them. My deepest condolences to the family.
Auntie Lorene was always there for me - loved her dearly. She was the only one who got to call me BrendaLynne, to keep the two Brenda's straight:) I will cherish her laugh and the glint in her eye forever. Such a heartrending and thoughtful Celebration of Life xoxo Love to you all!
Brenda, Laurie and Gayle (the McCready girls). I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I enjoyed my last visit with your mom. Such a vibrant wonderful lady. She was extremely proud of "her girls" and all of her grandchildren. Memories are a blessing. Your Mom is now with your Dad. Together again the way it was meant to be. My thoughts are with all of you during this time.
Our sincere condolences in the passing of your mom, grandma and great grandma. I loved hearing stories from her granddaughter Michelle, I could see how she was so special and so loved by all her family. What a beautiful smile she had, I could see how much pride and joy she had in her great grandchildren. May she rest in peace and her memories live on forever.
Gayle, I wish you and your family sincere strength with the loss of your mom. Your parents, Tom and Lorene, visited our city and home. I stayed in their house`s basement as a student. Lethbridge. Lorene you were a faithful writer at Christmas.
The world lost a wonderful lady, who happened it to my life when she believed in the Friendship Force that I started ,now many moons ago now. She was a delightful ambassador, for this little city at that time. Her wonderful smile, her humour, she was loved not only by the group here, but all she shared a week with, either hosting or being hosted. Great memories thank you, a life well lived.
May your memories bring you comfort... have known Lorene for many years (60+) nursing, golfing, socializing etc. and more recently swimming and celebrating birthdays of fellow swimmers (deep water exercising ) and enjoying coffee and chats... I feel blessed that Lorene crossed my path over the years... saw and spoke with Lorene at a Cmas dinner @ the old Lodge in November 2018. You are in my thoughts and prayers...Peace be with you... So sorry for your loss Gayle and family. I know how close you were with your mom. She was a gem and I always felt welcome and loved life on of her own when I had the opportunity to visit her. You all were so lucky to have her for so many memorable years. Hugs to you all.
Lorene was such a great friend of my mom's and you were so lucky to have her for so long. I loved her hearty laugh and joie de vivre. May she rest in peace.
Brenda and Family I was saddened to see that your Mom passed away! She was lucky to have lived such a long and rewarding life! I always enjoyed visiting with her at the golf course or when you two were at the Saiganese!( Her favourite restaurant) She was blessed to have such loving and caring daughters. I am sorry that I am unable to attend her service as I am in Victoria, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Deepest Sympathy, Sue Meredith
Your mother was an absolutely lovely lady and I was blessed to have met her. I will always remember her laugh and sauciness as well as the teasing we gave to each other. Our loss here on Earth has become a gain for Heaven. Love you ladies, she taught you well.
