MAY THERESA KOLESAR

MAY THERESA KOLESAR (NEE LEISHMAN) of Lethbridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the early morning hours of December 7, 2009. May is survived by her beloved children Dianne, Darlene and David, along with her three special grandchildren Justin, Jared and Samantha.

May was born October 27, 1938 in Lethbridge and is the daughter of Thomas and Helen Leishman. She was raised in Lethbridge and has fond memories of playing with neighborhood friends many of whom she is still friends with over sixty years later. She treasured having these friendships and felt blessed to have the same people in her life for so long a time. May loved sports all of her life. She played sports throughout her school years and she was most proud of being a member of the LCI Clipper Queens who won provincial basketball championships in the 1950s coached by one of her favorite teachers Marge Clarke. She also loved playing softball from an early age. May later was one of the original organizers of the local softball association in the seventies and coached various city championship teams into the eighties. Later in life, she fondly reminisced about watching live from field level as her Yankees played their final games in the old Bronx stadium. May was active in the lives of both her children and grandchildren and could always be found at their fields, classrooms, gymnasiums, arenas or theatres, supporting their endeavors, cheering them on and encouraging them to excel in their efforts.

She will be remembered warmly by both her co-workers from her time at TransAlta and her many close friends and long-time neighbors.

A heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff who showed caring, concern and support to May and our family during this time. A special thanks also to all the pharmacists and staff at Skelton’s Pharmacy who May always spoke so highly about!

To honour May’s request, a Private Service will be held on Thursday, December 10th, 2009.

In the spirit of the season, the family gratefully requests that any donations or contributions be made to the Angel Tree for Kids Campaign at Lethbridge Family Services by contacting Tanya J. at (403) 327-5724.
