Leaonard was born on August 11, 1952 at the Blood Indian Hospital. He grew up in the Bullhorn area and received his education in Cardston and Red Crow College. Leonard loved to Rodeo with his cousins, Alphonse, Dallas, and Paul. They traveled all over Alberta, Sask, British Columbia and Montana to compete. Leonard competed against some of today’s world champions, Leonard was a member of Chinook Rodeo Association, Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association and IRCA. His favorite memory was competing against Benny Renold. When Leonard was not competing in rodeo he was helping his dad, Morris (Big M) with his cattle operation and horses. He would also ride over to his auntie Bernadette’s to help his uncle Jerry with his cattle. The Bullhorn was Leonard’s and his cousins playground. During his adults life Leonard loved to teach his nieces and nephews about horses, rodeo and country life. He later loved teaching his grandchildren. He was very proud Grandpa, with Darion it was hockey that drew them together. He would show him moves, he learned while watching his nieces and nephews play. He was always saying " Shawn, Billy, Pat, Todd, Kyle, Cherise would do this….". He was proud of all his nieces and nephews. Leonard dream was for Darion to learn how to sing Pow-wow music and sing with Bullhorn. Leonard loved going to pow-wow to watch his granddaughter Tahnee dance, along with his nieces. He was talented at making any Dancing regalia; if any of them needed anything all they needed to do was ask. Leonard was known in the pow-wow circle for making roaches, leather belts, beading and making moccasins. He became well known for making moccasins he had to get his daughter and niece to bead for him, while he put them together. Leonard also supported Tah’nee with her hoop dancing. He wanted her to someday be a barrel racer like her mom Tracy. Cassius was the baby of the three grandchildren and was his boy. Leonard made him a full traditional regalia and hoped he would follow in his footsteps as a cowboy. He was always saying “that Peigan did this” When he wasn’t with his grandchildren he was at his sister Donna’s reminiscing about his parents, who he missed greatly. He always talked about how he helped his mom reupholstered the church pews. Even after she passed away he still spent time at church, to be closer to her.
