EILEEN MAY MATTEOTTI of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the age of 74 years.

Eileen was the beloved mother of Jack (Debra Watson) Matteotti of San Francisco, Sherry Matteotti of Lethbridge, Rick Matteotti of Lethbridge, Monte Matteotti of New York, and grandmother of Sara and Chelsey Matteotti of Kelowna, BC. She is also survived by her sister Divina Segboer in Salmon Arm, BC.

Eileen was predeceased by her mother Mary Nelson and brother Jackie Nelson.

She was born November 3rd, 1935 in Cranbrook, BC to Mary and Jack Nelson. Raised in Lethbridge’s river bottom, she went on to work at the Purity Dairy as well as Lethbridge Laundry. In 1953 she married her late ex-husband, Henry Matteotti, and became a mother of four and a dedicated farm hand.

She was a fearless mahjong and bridge player; an unapologetically kitchy painter; a reckless driver of grain trucks; a businesswoman with rudimentary arithmetic skills; a terrific dancer; and a fiercely loving mother of four brats, countless misfit dogs, a handful of horses, the occasional piglet, and one baby skunk. She was also an immensely proud grandmother of two granddaughters. We will miss that laugh, that smile. Love you tons, mom.
