With great sadness the family of MARY WESKO, beloved wife of the late Joseph Wesko, announce her passing on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the age of 92.
Mary was born in Rossroe, Connemara, County Galway, Ireland on December 13, 1920, the second of ten children born to John and Ann Kane.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Joseph, grandchildren Karen Taje, Jason Stegen and son-in-law Ron King, parents John and Ann Kane, brother John Kane, and sisters Bridie Curran and Nora Kearney. She will be forever remembered by her children Margaret King, Maureen (Jim) Stegen, Paddy Taje, Kevin (Karen) Wesko, Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren; Erin (Paul) Coupland, (Madelaine, Sophie); Elizabeth (Jeff) Bettger (Marley, Jayne, and Quinn); Jon (Michelle) Stegen (Kate), Erik and Sean Taje, and Sydney (Brett) and Blair Wesko.
Mary worked for Canada Safeway until her retirement in May 1980. She took great pride in her memberships with the Catholic Women’s League and the Alberta War Brides Society.
Mary loved being with family. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, baking, and travelling to Ireland and England, and Hurricane hockey games. Mary’s passion for the outdoors included gardening, camping and fishing.
A Prayer Vigil Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. with Sister Josephine Kaizer Officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH - 604 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Father Kevin Tumback Celebrant.
