MARY ELLINGSON, wife of the late Hans Ellingson, passed away quietly, Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Extendicare in Lethbridge at the age of 91. Mary was born in Lethbridge on November 6, 1917 to the late Abramo and Bertha (Baceda) Pozzebon. Mary attended St. Basil’s school. At the age of 11 she spent 13 months in Italy with her parents before returning home to Canada. She continued her education until the end of grade 7 when she left school to enter the workforce. Mary worked for several years at the Rex Fruit Store and many years at the Royal Fruit Store for Yeo Quong ‘Pee Wee’, before being introduced to Hans by future sister in law Betty (Hill) Ellingson. She and Hans married in 1952. They farmed in the Newlands District. Mary still continued working at the Royal even after they retired from the farm to Lethbridge in 1965. She retired from the Store in the early 1980’s. Mary was well liked by everyone who knew her and always had words of encouragement, advice or a story to tell. She enjoyed travelling (by car) and visiting with family as well as socializing with the many people she knew in Lethbridge and area. Mary was predeceased by her younger brother Robert Pozzebon. Left to celebrate her life is son Brad, daughter (in law) Lois. Granddaughter Kirsty, great grandson and great granddaughter Arik and Giannina Thorbergson. Sister Giannina Mahon, Josephine (Neil) Horlacher as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service to be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Richard Brown officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 1254-3 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0K1.
