MARY BLOCK

MARY-JANE MAY BLOCK (nee Rose) of Milk River, passed away with family at her side at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Left to cherish her precious memory are; her beloved husband of 52 years, Henry, daughters Deborah (Scott) Dalton and Gwen (Rick) Chamberlain, 3 grandchildren, Erin, Ryan (Lindsey) and Taylor, her special sister Mickey and brothers Don, Bill (Cheryl) and Monte as well as a multitude of nieces & nephews; her ‘hoodlums’. She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Louella Rose and two sisters Shirley and Helen. Until their move to Milk River in 2006, Mary and Henry had lived in Arrowwood for 42 years. During their time there, Mary was instrumental in the opening of the community library where she spent countless hours among her books. She was the first Librarian and the town of Arrowwood recognized her contributions by rededicating the library to her. The Mary Block Library is a tribute to her ongoing legacy and love of books. Mary was a special lady who was never aware of how much she truly touched those around her. To know her was to love her and her passing will leave an empty space in the hearts of many.
