Joan Martens, beloved sweetheart of her husband John Martens, with her loving sister Lora by her side, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, February 20, 2015.
Joan was born November 1, 1942 to Margaret and Jake Wall and grew up with her sisters and brother on the family farm south of Coaldale. After studying at Lethbridge Community College she worked for the Linn family in the printing department at the former Southern Stationers. She met Johnny, the love of her life, and the two married and made their home in Coaldale where they raised their children Ian and Tiffany. After operating Martens' IGA for a number of years, they enjoyed their semi-retirement, with Joan's passion for watercolour painting, gardening, vacationing and spending time with friends and family, especially delighting in the last two years with her grandson Mikko.
She will be missed dearly by her husband Johnny, their children Ian (Randi) Martens and Tiffany (Rodney and their son Mikko) Badiuk, her sisters Erika Lyon and Lora Seabrook, and many special sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Gone before her were her parents Jake and Margaret, and her brother Rudy Wall.
