After a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, BRIAN MARSHALL passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 with his family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Jack & Gladys Marshall.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Lise, daughter Jennifer (Matt), grandchildren Ashley & Matthew; brothers Dick (Jo-Anne), Wayne (Linda) and Barry (Diane); sisters Sheila, Carol and Brenda (Don). Also left to mourn the loss of their Uncle Brian are numerous nieces and nephews, all who have fond memories of their time with him.
Last but certainly not least, he is very much missed by his beloved border collie, Lucy, who was never far from his side.
Brian will be remembered as not only a caring husband, father, and Poppy but as a true cowboy with a deep and passionate love of horses and an outstanding knowledge of equine pedigree and lineage. He was fortunate to build a career around that passion and as a result, developed long-lasting friendships along the way.
A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held at the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association (SAEA) in Lethbridge on Tuesday June 13, 2017 from 3:30 - 6:30. This is a casual come and go reception. There will be prayers led by Pastor John at 4:00 as well as light snacks and refreshments being provided. For those who wish to say some words about their memories of Brian, there will be an opportunity to do so.
The address to the S.A.E.A. is 421 - 6 Avenue South. The entrance to the building faces 6th Avenue south. The parking is to the west side of the building and is not obvious to those who are not familiar with the facility.
To access the parking for this facility, please enter via the 4th street entrance just off 5th Avenue South (same side street as the parking for the Government of Alberta Building).
Please head to the end of the dead end road (towards 6th Avenue) and the entrance is to the left at the end of this street. To assist you, there will be balloons marking the entrance to the parking lot as the facility is relatively new. There is a ramp for those who have mobility challenges.
If you have any questions about the facility or the celebration itself, please email jenmarshall@telus.net.
Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish to honour Brian, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5 or at www.cancer.ca/donate, or to the Lethbridge Association for Community Living - 527 6 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2E1 or at www.lacl.ca/donate.

My sincere condolences on Brian's passing. I work in reception at Home Care and enjoyed seeing Brian when he would come in for his appointments. Brian was one of a kind. You would mention a horse buy its name and he would go on about where it came from who the sire and dam were etc etc I have only met one other person that could do that Very well respected and will very well be missed
Sending sincere heartfelt condolences to all the family - from my family. Lots of great memories with Brian . R.I.P Mr. Horseman .

Such a fun guy. Going to miss the "other Brian Marshall."
My heart goes out to you all in the loss of Brian. I will always treasure my recent talk with Brian at Safeway. It was a pleasure to get to know you. Laurie
I always looked up to Brian - he encouraged me to start showing st the MQHA shows when I was about 16 - and shared showing tips - especially Trail - lots of patience! We were privileged to have Poco Montleon in our barn, and Brian as a friend.
It has been more than a decade since I last saw Brian, but he will aways be remembered as a kind, gentle man, and a true cowboy. My deepest condolences to all of his family. "When it's midnight on the meadow And the cats are in the shed And the river tells a story At the window by my bed If you listen very closely Be as quiet as you can In the yard you'll hear him It is the pony man We're always there to greet him When he tumbles into town He leads a string of ponies Some are white and some are brown And they never seem to kick or bite They only want to play And they live on candy apples Instead of oats and hay And when we're all assembled He gives a soft command And we climb aboard our ponies As in a row the stand Then down the road we gallop And across the fields we fly And soon we all go sailing off Into the midnight sky"
My thoughts and prayers are with you Lise, Jennifer and family. I was very blessed to have had the privilege to have met Brian and seen first hand the love he has for his grandson Matthew. My heart was deeply touch by this eaytiful bond they shared.
Your smile and your joking manner will be missed. Thinking about you lots Marshall family.
There are no words to express our appreciation for Brian. He was a great mentor and friend and we will value that friendship forever. He always made time to help someone else. His passion for horses was second to none. The love of his family was great. He will be missed. Prayers and hugs to the family. Beth and Stewart
Beth and I met Brain over 25 years ago at the Can-Am trade show at the Stampede Grounds in Calgary, Brian treated 2 strangers from the maritimes like we were royalty , we were given the grand tour of Calgary and surrounding area, (All horse related of coarse) since moving to Alberta 20 years now and returning to our horse , Brain has been a big part of our life, a mentor, teacher , source of knowledge and most of all a very good friend, we have a mare and her baby from Brian , to see the look of pure pride and enjoyment on his face when he looks at his horses just fills your heart with love for this man, he will be truely missed her at North Wind Ranch by Beth and I and the herd, the world has lost a great man, friend and cowboy, rest in peace our friend , we know you are helping some one with a horse in a much better place now, til we see you again.
I met Brian 35 years ago at the Parkside coffee shop and over the years we've had some good laughs, heard lots of stories and learned how proud he was of his family and especially how much he loved Matt and that Matt loved horses too. RIP pal.
