Marie was born on November 9, 1932 in Richmound, SK. She pursued a career in nursing, graduating from the Calgary General Hospital School of Nursing then working for many years at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital.

Marie loved nothing more than family gatherings and reunions. Her family was always her priority. She was a caregiver her entire life and provided meals and care to so many. If acts of kindness and compassion were jewels in a crown, hers is surely full.

Rick, Vanessa and families We are deeply saddened to read of Marie's passing and to have missed her Service. Marie was a great friend to our Mom, Nina Kloppenborg. They served together in the UCW for many years and shared many of life's joys and sorrows. Marie was an important part of Mom's life and especially in her final days and we will be eternally grateful for the genuine kindness, care & concern she showed for both Mom and ourselves. Her crown in heaven is indeed laden with jewels, for she lovingly gave so much. She will be missed and always remembered with a smile.

Dear Maclean family, it was with great sadness that I read of Marie's passing. It was Marie who taught me how to make the fancy rolled sandwiches for the Holly Tea at McKillop United Church when I was new to Canada and to the United Church Women. I will make some today in honour of Marie and the care she took of others, her friendly manner and her lovely smile. The UCW Life Member pin she is wearing in the memorial photo honoured a wonderful spirit of generosity and kindness. I am sorry not to be able to attend Marie's funeral today but send my deepest condolences to you all.

Rick, Vanessa and family, We are sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember being a student nurse in the recovery room where she worked and I was impressed with her compassion, skills and kindness towards both patients and students. Over the years I continued to witness her thoughtfulness towards others and love for her family. Our thoughts are with you at this time. We hope you are surrounded by those who love, care and support you, and wish you comfort and peace in the days ahead.
