AGNES MARY MACHACEK, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Frank Machacek, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

AGNES MARY MACHACEK, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Frank Machacek, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

Besides her beloved husband, she will be missed by her children: Cyril (Deb), Teresa (Greg), Greg (Lucy) and Chris; her grandchildren: Jessie (Jay), Myranda (Michael), Rylan, Cassidy, Jared, Georgia, Eva, Luciana and Lucas; and great-granddaughter Kennedy. Agnes is also survived by her brother Jerry (Joan) Hrncirik and brother-in-law Ben Kempenaar, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Vencil and Marie, brother Louis and sister Lily.

Agnes was born on the farm in Turin on Aug 20, 1937 - a day filled with stooking and harvesting a ripening crop. Agnes was raised as the third child and first daughter of Vencil and Marie Hrncirik; she was the apple of her daddy's eye. She worked hard on the farm helping with everything, from kitchen chores, to gardening, caring for farm animals and working in the fields. She graduated from Turin High School and moved to Calgary, where she completed her Nursing Certificate from the Holy Cross Hospital. She nursed for a number of years in Calgary before going to Halifax and earning a Certificate in Public Health Nursing from Dalhousie University. She returned to Lethbridge to work and that was where she met a tall, handsome farm boy named Frank and married him on June 25, 1966, moving to the farm in Barnwell.

After the birth of the three eldest children, Frank and Agnes purchased a farm by Skiff and moved there to raise their family. Life was filled with farm work, farm animals and pets, gardening, cooking and running kids around. Agnes returned to nursing on a part-time basis, working for the Barons-Eureka-Warner Health Unit as a Home Care Nurse, a job that she loved and got much satisfaction from.

Agnes and Frank enjoyed many years of traveling over the years, near and far, to Australia, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Central America, as well as around US and Canada. They settled into Martha's House Community and have resided there up enjoying a comfortable life and wonderful friends.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. with Sharon Hagel officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating. My deepest sympathies on the passing of a wife, a mother, a grandma and a great grandma. I fondly remember the parental support I received from Frank and Agnes when all the children were students in Foremost School. I have some wonderful memories of all the entire family when our paths crossed through the school. Remember the wonderful memories you each have of Agnes.
