MacFarlane, Mary

MARY ELIZABETH MACFARLANE, passed away peacefully with family at her side, at Legacy Lodge, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the age of 95 years.

Mary trained as an RN in Guelph, Ontario, graduating in 1945. After moving to Lethbridge, she worked at the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital and at Southland Nursing Home where she worked until her retirement in 1980. She loved her career and even recently could recall details and side effects of medications she had administered.

Mary enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, attending the horse races and the Casino (only on Thursdays) with friends or going to Las Vegas with her sisters. She loved nothing more than following all of her grandchildren in their numerous sports and other activities and attending family celebrations and events, always bringing her sense of humor.

She was a kind and caring friend and neighbour, always giving possessions and time to those she believed were needier than her.

Mary was the loving mother of Paul Lowrie (Tweela Houtekamer), Mark Lowrie, Heather MacFarlane, Debbie Kerbers (Udo), Judy Legge (Laurie) and Dan MacFarlane (Kathy). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren, sisters, Nora (Dave) Enchin, Vera Ferraro, and Eva Sutton, brother Brian Nadalin as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son David MacFarlane, her daughter, Wendy Lipinski, sisters, Rosie Nichols, Betty Malet and Dolly Gard and brothers, Joe and Ed Nadalin.

At Mary's request, there will be no funeral service. A private family Celebration of Mary's Life will occur at a later date.
