KEITH BRIAN LYON, beloved husband of Evelyn Lyon, of Lethbridge, passed away on July 6, 2016 at the age of 61 years. He is also survived by his son, David (Jill) Lyon and his daughter, Sarah (Justin) Eliot as well as his 2 brothers, Bruce and Glen and his sister Mary. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Gwen Lyon.

Keith grew up in Nanton and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1979 with a B.Sc in Agriculture. Keith worked at a variety of roles in the agriculture sector travelling much of Southern Alberta making friends along the way.

His biggest passion in life was his ranch west of Nanton, where he spent virtually every weekend with his family and his beloved dogs. He was a hunter, motorcycle enthusiast and a jack of all trades. Whether it was fixing equipment, building his first home or wiring the quonset; he was fearless and would take on any challenge and complete it to the best of his ability. He took great pride in working with his own hands and seeing the fruits of his labor.

His children were the light of his life and he took great pride in seeing them grow and succeed in their own lives. He had many great experiences that he held dear, such as walking his daughter down the aisle, travelling with his wife and family, and countless motorcycle trips with his son.

He will be missed greatly by his family.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at THE FAMILY RANCH, located on the corner of TWP 154 and RR 285 South-West of Nanton (Further directions can be found on the Cornerstone guest book page), on Saturday, July 9th at 11:00 A.M. with a reception to follow at the CHRIST CHURCH ANGLICAN, 2306-20th Street (1 block west of the Candy Shop), Nanton, AB. Please dress comfortably for an outdoor celebration.

Dear Evelyn, David, Sarah & Families; I am so sorry to have not heard about Keith's passing until just now. We are shocked and saddened for all of you. When you lived next door, there were never better neighbours. You are in our thoughts and sending our deepest sympathies. I worked with Keith at Morris (5+) years ago and was saddened to hear of his passing. I really enjoyed working with Keith and have many fond memories of him. He was always pulling pranks or making jokes, but he also was kind, reliable and someone I could always count on. Even though it's been years since we worked together, I thought of Keith often and always with a smile. Your family is in my thoughts during this difficult time.

Sheena Sinclair, July 11, 2016

It is with a heavy heart that I stumbled on the news of Keith's passing. I had the pleasure to work fairly extensively with Keith when we were both in previous careers. Being that we were both still in agriculture we have had the opportunity to meet and stay in touch through the years. His enthusiasm, interest and forward thinking will be greatly missed, as will he by his entire family, leaving us all way to early.

Evelyn and family, I have had the pleasure of knowing Keith through motorcycles...for many years we would find a time at the Montana Grain Growers Convention to discuss the destination and route of our next Crop and Cow Tour ride together. The Morris booth was always a place to find good conversation and friendship...plus a grain drill. It was his knowledge of his product line that lead my family to a purchase but it was his enthusiasm for riding motorcycles that brought us together. We are all better off for having Keith be a part of our lives. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with us. Carl

Carl Mattson, July 9, 2016

I knew Keith many years, both professionally and recreationally. He was a fine man whom I always wanted to visit with. We all missed Keith and David this year on our annual "Cows and Crops" tour. They both added so much to the enjoyment of the trip. Please know that there are others who are deeply saddened by your family's loss of Keith.

We are so sorry to hear about Keith's passing. As a neighbor and friend Keith helped put together a garage lift. Keith was always a good friend coming to the aid of neighbors after a snow storm clearing walkways with his tractor. We enjoyed the visit out to the ranch. We all had fun that day with the new Kawasaki four wheel drive. We looked forward to spending time with Keith and Evelyn at the annual block party that was often held on their drive pad. Keith will be missed. We wish to extend our sympanthies to Evelyn and family members at this sorry full time.

I knew Keith only for a short time through work. He had great passion for anything he was doing. Whether it was dong drill demos with me, lining up setup on sold drills, or talking about his time with his family hunting / working on his ranch. All of my customers thoroughly enjoyed his ever positive attitude, and the endless knowledge that he stored away over the years. I am deeply sorry for your loss. He was a great man.

Dear Evelyn and family. I am very saddened to hear my friend and work colleague Keith has passed. I have great memories of time spent with Keith including two trips with him to Montana as well as meals at your home. Keith and I both loved grass roots agriculture and had many great discussions on the topic. I will think of him every time I do agronomic training to the Morris staff and try to anticipate what questions he would have posed. I would dearly love to come to the ranch and celebrate Keith's life with you but I am on the other side of Canada on holidays with my family and won't be back in time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Garth

I spent 8 months in 2012 working with Morris and in my brief time with the company I was very fortunate to get to know Keith. We got to spend a week together in Montana and work together at many trade shows and other events. Keith was so kind and easy to talk to, its not often you find a good friend in someone in such a short amount of time. He will have an everlasting impact on my life and my career in agriculture. I am proud to have known and spent time with him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
