LYON, GLADYS JEANETTE

GLADYS JEANETTE LYON passed away peacefully at the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre in Carmangay, on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the age of 93 years.

She will be loved and remembered by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Dennis Leswick and Colleen and Lloyd Annable, her one granddaughter Denise (David) Burkmar, 3 grandsons Shane Leswick, Derrick (Julie) Annable and Brett (Janet) Annable. She was also fortunate to have four great-grandchildren; Brittany (Chase) Simpson, Brooke Annable, Nelson and Nolan Annable, as well as a special great-great-granddaughter, Jewel Simpson. Gladys is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and their families. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Gilbert McGinnis in 1978 and her second husband Roy Lyon in 1997, her brother Harold Gower and sister Vivian McFarland.

Gladys was a caring lady, loving her family and they loving her back. She was a great friend to have, and cared for her friends and community.

Gladys was a huge sports fan, be it baseball, curling, rodeo, horse races, bowling or golf. She was not only a fan but throughout her life she loved to participate. Gladys and Gilbert spent many happy days fishing, camping and traveling with family and friends.

Gladys was an active member in her community and the McKillop Church was her place of worship. She was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.

Gladys and Gilbert lived on the family farm west of Carmangay until 1970, then they retired to Lethbridge. She resided there until September of 2009 at which time she became a resident at the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre in Carmangay.

Our family will always be thankful for the compassionate, loving care they gave to our beloved Gladys. God bless you.

A Memorial Service will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 - 15th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gladys’ name to the Little Bow Continuing Care Centre, 316 Armstrong Street, Carmangay, Alberta, T0L 0N0.
