MR.LUCAS (LUKE) HUMMEL age 51 of Taber, beloved husband of Michele Hummel was called home suddenly by his lord and saviour, Friday August 29, 2008. Born May 3, 1957 in Lethbridge, he lived his life in the Nobleford and Granum area. In 1981, Luke was blessed with the birth of his only child Jonathan Hummel, who he raised in the Granum area. Lucas married Michele Johnson March 11, 2006. Luke was employed with Canada Safeway in Calgary, Lethbridge and Taber over his 30 year career as a meat cutter. He made numerous friends during his time at Safeway, with special mention of Gary Pike and Darcy Shearer, who he worked closely with during this time. Luke was a faithful member of the Granum Christian Reformed church. Besides his loving wife Michele, Luke is survived by his son Jonathan (Sharla), step children Jason, Lindsay, Dylan and Saidee and grandchildren Levi, Dallyn, Jaydon and Jaelea. He also leaves behind is mother Cobi Hummel, and in laws Faye Dussome (Gary Milley) and siblings Lydia Hummel and family, Tjaard (TJ) Hummel and family, Wilma (Jack) Wever and family, Catherine (Norm) Dykshoorn and family, Ralph (Patricia) Hummel and family, and many beloved brother and sister in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. Luke is predeceased by his sister Janet Wever (Hummel) (1984) and his father John (Jan) Hummel (2001). Luke was a generous and giving soul and is greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the Taber CRC or Granum CRC churches youth program as Luke’s greatest passion and dedication in life was to support and love children. Funeral service to be held at the GRANUM CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 5 miles east of Granum on Highway 519 on Wednesday September 3, 2008 at two o’clock, and the interment to immediately follow at the Nobleford Christian Reformed Church cemetery. A viewing for immediate family will be held at one o’clock at the Granum CRC before the funeral.
