Lovegren, Uno

UNO VALDEMAR "BUD" LOVEGREN, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on February 15, 2017 at the age of 80 years.

Bud was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife Jill, and children Edward Lovegren of Apache Junction, AZ; Sonja (Sarel) Marais of Monroe, NC; Gary Lovegren (Lisa) of Kelowna, BC; Sara Janssen Lopez of Calgary; and Jon Janssen (Tracy) of Lethbridge, AB. Bud's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren: Jessica Lovegren, Henry Marais, Nya Lovegren, Joshua Lopez, Jack Janssen, and great-grandson, Billy Valdez Lovegren.

He was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Donald George Lovegren.

Bud was born in Sveg, Sweden in 1936 and was the eldest son of Uno Par Gorg Persson Lovegren and Ellen Elida (Elin) Ostergren. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and his younger brother, Donald, in 1948. After a trip across Canada, the family settled in White Rock, BC where Bud deemed that it was the most perfect place to grow up. Later his positions in the Royal Bank of Canada and with Reichhold Chemicals took him to many towns in British Columbia and Alberta.

Bud loved to golf and fish as well as watch the Blue Jays, Seahawks and the Oilers, even when they weren't very good. He was an avid reader, a collector of slides, stamps, CDs and fishing gear. Bud loved to discuss the issues of the day and how to fix the world. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

As Bud requested, there will be no formal funeral service.
