Lind, Gerry

GERRY LIND, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 14th, 2017 at the age of 81 years.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife and constant companion, Sheryle. He is also survived by his sisters in law Deanna (Jack) Gerow of Kelowna, BC, Darlene (Dale Keene) Kimberley of Enderby, BC, numerous special cousins, a favourite Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend who became like family, Darcy Walker.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

In 1957, this devilishly handsome rascal ordered 29 hotdogs at the Salmon Arms Drive-In, intriguing the young impressionable carhop. On August 20th, 1960, they were pronounced husband and wife, raising their one son Michael (Jan) Lind now of Calgary. Gerry treasured his two granddaughters, Freya and Astrid who in return adored their fun-loving Gramps.

Gerry and Sheryle loved to travel and enjoyed their most recent trip to the Yukon. They enjoyed many cruises, however, their favourite place became Tobago where they made lifelong friends with many of the local islanders. Gerry was a well-respected volunteer in our community, serving two terms as Master of the Masonic Lodge, always pitching in at Southminster and First United Churches, as well as many other organizations.

While no one is perfect, the best description of Gerry would be to say he loved to share laughter, was one of the most non-judgmental people on this earth and overall made this world a better place to live. His unique sense of humour, as well as perhaps his sense of gullibleness, will be greatly missed.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 - 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at 2:00 P.M., with Reverend James Grunden & Pastor Dr George Takashima officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald's memory to a charity of your choice.
