PETER "PIET" VAN SLUYS passed away peacefully at the Providence Care Centre in Calgary on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Piet is survived by his children Dick (Lorrie) Van Sluys of Calgary, Rick Van Sluys of Lethbridge, Sophia (Warren) Bardy of Vancouver and Robert (Donna) Van Sluys of Edmonton, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, three sisters Janny in den Bosch, Nel (Andy) DeKok and Matty (John) Vanee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

MICHAEL ARTHUR "COUTTSO" VARZARI, of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 26, 2016. Couttso was born in Lethbridge on November 17, 1929 and was raised 'down Number Three'. He never forgot his humble yet colourful beginnings in that neighbourhood and was full of great tales of his early life there. He always attributed his strong and solid work ethic and his appreciation for the simple things in life to his upbringing 'down Number Three'.

GIUSEPPINA "JOSEPHINE" VIANI, beloved wife of the late Giuseppe "Joe" Viani, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael's Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the age of 85 years. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Angelo (Pam) and Tony (Linda), two grandchildren, Bryan and Kimberly and two great-grandchildren Kyeler and Alexis. Also left to mourn her passing are her two sisters, Maria and Felicetta of Civitanova del Sannio, Italy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

MR. NORMAN PHILLIP VANDEN BERG, of Foremost, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 at the age of 61 years. He is survived by: parents Stephen and Johanna Vanden Berg, sister Carol Schuld, brothers Jim (Joan) and Mark (Lorelei), and sixteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: brother Arthur, niece Abby, sister-in-law Julie. After attending Foremost school, Norm worked on the family farm and for local farmers.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, PAULINE "POLLY" JEANETTE VENECHUK (nee PAVKA), on June 12, 2016, at the age of 92 years. Polly was born in Czechoslovakia on February 6, 1924 and immigrated with her family to Canada when she was two years old. She married John Venechuk in 1948 and was blessed with three children, Rose Ann, Bev and Don. Polly is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Cindy, Tony, Elaina and Blake; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Avery, Ava and Arianna; her sister Mildred (Ray) Bagozzi and brothers, Frank (Mary Ann) Pavka and Laddie (Anne) Pavka, as well as many nieces and nephews.

KEN VAN ESVELD, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at the age of 55 years. He is survived by his son Jeremy Van Esveld, of Calgary, as well as his father Gerald Van Esveld and his two sisters, Willetta (Andy) Oudman and Joanne (Henk) Van Roekel, all of Lethbridge, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ken is also remembered by his girlfriend Patty Zielke.

Joseph (Joe) VanderBeek husband of Frances Graham VanderBeek passed away suddenly at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the age of 79. Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years Frances VanderBeek , children Tim VanderBeek of Lethbridge and Gail (Rod) Schultz of Lethbridge as well as his two dearly loved granddaughters Sarah Schultz and Alyssa Schultz, both of Lethbridge. Joe is also survived by his brother Tony (Ann) VanderBeek of Lethbridge and his sisters Nolda Smeding of Lethbridge, Joan (John) Antonides of Penticton and Nettie (Lloyd) Westra of Edmonton.

ANTHONY "TONY" VOORT was peacefully reunited with his "sweetie", the late Sharon Ann Voort (nee Stotyn), on April 13, 2016, surrounded by the love of his three children: Nancy Metz (nee Voort), Kathy Voort (Keith) and David Voort. Besides his three children, Tony is lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren: Tannon Calderwood, Sera Voort-Weisgerber and Skyla Metz, who he loved to spend time with, finding interest in what they each enjoyed, be it the love of dance, science, camping, or just spending time telling his stories.

CORNELIS "CASEY" VERSCHOOR, passed away at home suddenly, on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Born, raised and educated in Holland, Case immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. He farmed in Rainier from 1959 to 1989, when he retired to Lethbridge. Case is survived by one brother, John (Edna) Verschoor and five sisters, Anne Nyenhuis, Janny Kalf, Betty Groenenboom, Cobie (Arie) Den Hollander and Nel (John) Van Es as well as many of his siblings' children and grandchildren, who all knew him as Uncle Case.
