JOHN ‘SOONER’ NAKAMURA, of Coaldale, AB, passed away suddenly in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the age of 71 years. John is survived by his son Clayton (Kerry) Nakamura and their children Megan, Nick and Carter, of Spruce Grove, AB; his son Richard Nakamura of Lethbridge; his daughter Charmaine Nakamura of Airdrie, AB; and their mother Ruby Nakamura of Airdrie, AB. John is also survived by his brother Bud Nakamura of Whitehorse, YK; his sisters Mary (Su) Yamamoto of Winnipeg, MB; his sister Mina Nakamura of Japan; and by his nieces and nephews and their families.

JOHN OTTO KASZAS of Lethbridge passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at home at the age of 86 years. Surviving and left to honour his life are his wife Mary; daughters Patti (Rudy Peters), Betty “BJ” (Weldon Hobbs), Susan “Su” (Tim McCuaig); grandson Jesse McCuaig; sisters Beth Livingstone and Vilma Chizmazia, as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his brothers Charlie and Joe and sister Marion.

JOHN "SAM" McGEE, beloved wife of the late Elsie McGee, passed away at home on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the age of 95 years. Funeral arrangements to be announced when completed.

JOHN PAULS, beloved husband of Anne, went peacefully to be with his Lord, surrounded by his much loved family and music. He passed away April 3, 2008 in his home after a year long battle with cancer. Besides his loving wife Anne, he leaves his children and their families to mourn his passing: Marilynne (Marcel) Hebert of Calgary, Bev (Mark) Bellamy of Lethbridge, Brian (Tracy) Pauls of Taber, Darrell (Carolyn) Pauls of Coaldale, Deb Maerz of Edmonton, Lori (Marty) Sperling of Suffield, Tim (Sonya) Maerz of Medicine Hat, Terry (Jackie) Maerz of Taber and Anne’s two sons, Warren (Becky) Molnar of Coaldale and Doug Jensen of Lethbridge.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of JOHN SCHWENGLER, who died suddenly on February 3, 2014. For everyone that knew him I think it would be safe to say, that our Dad was no ordinary man. Growing up on the farm in Saskatchewan, his stories began and lead to a life time of family and adventure, beginning with his marriage to our mom Mary, who passed away in 2007.

JOHN MALCOLM POOLE, beloved husband of Doris Poole, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the age of 83 years. He is the loving father of Philip (Caroline) Poole and their children Katherine, Jack, Francesca and Sam, of Canterbury, UK; Martin (Cristiana) Poole, and children, Oliver, William and Leo, of Montefiascone, Italy; Lynne and Frederick Schwarz and their daughter, Jenna of Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia.

MR. JOHN RACZ, beloved husband of Julia Racz, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 87 years on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, with his family by his side. He will be loved and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Julia, his children John (Vicki) and Debbie (Rick), and his grandchildren Michael and Allyson. Besides his immediate family, he is survived by brothers Joseph Racz Jr. and Jim Racz, sisters Mary Hass and Leona Kvello, and many nieces and nephews.

JOHN RICHARD PENNIFOLD, beloved husband of Shelley Pennifold, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley, four precious daughters: Karen (Tom), Alison (Mike), Kim (Jeremy) and Becky (Jason) and grandchildren: Gabby, Lexi, Aisleigh, Kingston, Hudson and Aubrey. He is also survived by his sister Susan (Brian) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father (Richard), mother (Gladys) of Nanton, Alberta and grandson, Harley (Lethbridge).

A son, brother, our father, loving husband, a friend and his most treasured title ‘Papa John’ to five cherished grandchildren, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on July 18th. John was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late John and Erdine Allan and had two siblings Charlean and Gerald. It was however an insatiable desire for knowledge that brought him to Lethbridge. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1959, with his bachelor of science in botany, he then made his way to the University of Indiana, where in 1962, he completed his Master of Arts in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry.

JOHN SOROCHAN March 19, 1929 - July 22, 2012 John was born in Smokey Lake AB and raised in Edmonton. Together with his wife Jean (Gartly), they raised seven children in the Transcona area of Winnipeg. At an early age John followed his father Peter into the sewer and water business. He began his career working for Borger Brothers, followed by a partnership with Bergman Foundations of Winnipeg. In 1978 he moved his family to Lethbridge to establish Sorochan Enterprises Ltd.
