Laackmann, Kathleen "Faye"

KATHLEEN "FAYE" LAACKMANN, of Milk River, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the age of 79 years.

Faye is survived by her two sons, Brent (Shannon) and their children Brody and Cordell, and Russel (Sherry) and their children Max and Zane, as well as her sisters, Meryl Wedgwood and Josephine (George) Wittorff, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Australia.
 
She was predeceased by her mother, May Smith, her father, Ernest Bunce and her step-father, Bill Smith.

Faye was born in Derby, Western Australia on October 20, 1939. She was surrounded by a large family, consisting of 13 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.

She attended school in Derby until the age of 15, at which point she went to work as a Ward Aid for two years before traveling to Perth to complete her Nursing training. Upon completion, she returned to Derby and began work as a Nurse.

In 1959, the Royal Flying Doctor was founded and Faye became a valued member of their crew. She went on many missions to remote stations as a flying paramedic.

In 1962, Faye and her friend, Peggy, got their Visas to go travel and work around the world. Their working holiday took them from England, to Northern Ontario, to Bassano and eventually to Milk River where she continued nursing, got married and raised her family.

She will be missed by her family and many friends and neighbours.

A Celebration of Faye's Life will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street N.W., Milk River, AB on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Marion Martin officiating.
