LLOYD INGE KVAME, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Marion Kvame, passed away peacefully at Fairmont Extendicare, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

LLOYD INGE KVAME, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Marion Kvame, passed away peacefully at Fairmont Extendicare, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

Lloyd is the loving father of Kevin Kvame of Lethbridge and Stephen (Christianne) Kvame of Drayton Valley; grandfather to five treasured grandchildren: Hannah, Ethan, Emma, Logan and Reese.  He is also survived by a sister-in law, Ruth; as well as three nephews (Mark, Cameron (Carmen), and Scott); two nieces (Rhonda (Craig) Morris and Jacklyn (Rob) Woodring); and many great nieces and nephews as well as cherished cousins in Canada, United States, and Norway.  He will be also be missed by a dear friend, Glenda Kurtz, who treated Lloyd with compassion and love throughout his last few years. She especially enjoyed taking Lloyd for walks, Iced Capps from Tim's, and to Lethbridge Bulls baseball games. Lloyd was a fixture for many years with Marion at the ball park, and for many games after her passing. To attend games of his son's baseball club was his most favourite outing in his final years.

Besides his loving wife of 61 years, Marion, he was predeceased by his parents Ole and Helen Kvame.

Lloyd was born in Saskatchewan, but grew up in the High River area, the only child of Ole and Helen. He worked hard in the 1950s to find something he enjoyed, and eventually settled as a produce manager. He worked for over 35 years at Reach & Co. in Fort Macleod. During his employment, he met Marion Miller, who he married in 1959, and they remained in love together until Marion' s passing in 2021. They raised two sons, Kevin and Stephen, and supported their interests as they grew up and into adulthood.  These included sports (baseball & hockey), travel, school activities, and more.

He enjoyed being around and meeting people. During his time at Reach & Co., he offered to do grocery deliveries twice per day so he could greet the families of Fort Macleod with welcome packages.

Lloyd was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Fort Macleod, and then Lethbridge. He served for many years in the session of the church and held other roles within the congregation as well.  Likely without needing to say it, he was a constant fixture with Marion on Sunday mornings at St. Andrew's for their entire marriage.

Lloyd developed a love of several hobbies after he retired in 1995. Amond them was his Needlepoint pictures he created. He completed dozens of them and many will remain as cherished memories of him by family and friends. He also was an avid rock hound for many years and produced many colorful ties and other rock items.  Among his other interests, Lloyd was happiest working in his yard or helping neighbors.

Lloyd especially enjoyed travelling with Marion to see friends and family throughout North America. They carried fond memories of many trips to Oregon, California, Oklahoma, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and throughout Alberta.  They both were overjoyed in watching their grandchildren grow. celebrating notable Family occasions.  It was obvious to anyone who knew Lloyd that both immediate and extended family and friends were important to him.

Lloyd enjoyed being active and serving others. He regularly looked after neighbours and older relatives' yards and walks. The perks that went with this like a friendly visit over coffee and cookies or a thoughtful token of their appreciation meant a lot to Lloyd.

Special thanks to the staff of Fairmont Extendicare who looked after Lloyd for the past two plus years as well as the residents who took time to visit and enjoy activities with him at the facility when he was able.  Special thanks also to friends such as Sandy, Steve & Margarette, and Doug and any others who always took time to visit when they could.
