It is with great sadness that the family of Katalin (Katy) Kupis announces her passing on November 3, 2011 at the age of 82 years. Katy was a very strong woman, strong in her family values and in her faith.
Born in BÅ‘sz?nfa Hungary of German descent on January 14, 1929. She married the love of her life Stefan (Steve) Kupis on September 22, 1951 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Their family grew welcoming two children: Victoria (Vicki) and John (Johnny). In 1978 Vicki married Barry Clark and Katy gained a second son. In July 1983 they provided Katy with her first granddaughter Lindsay and in April 1988 she welcomed her second granddaughter Lauren into the world.
Katalin was a tireless worker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, quilting, dancing and volunteering with the CWL but her true passion was gardening. Katy was forever tending her incredible garden which was both beautiful and bountiful.
Katalin will forever be remembered in the hearts and memories of her loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband Steve Kupis, her parents Anna and John Fechter, her brother Valentin Fechter, and the long-time partner of John Kupis, Linda Cooper. She is survived by her daughter Victoria (Barry) Clark, her two wonderful grandchildren Lindsay and Lauren Clark, her son John Kupis , her sister-in-law Julia Fechter, her nephew Eric (Debbie) Fechter and family, and her niece Lorraine Marsh and family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a prayer service on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday November 10, 2011. Both events will take place at St. Ambrose church 1513 23 AVE, Coaldale, Alberta. Interment to follow the funeral at the Coaldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance 416-10 Street North Lethbridge, AB T1H 2C7 or to a donation of your choice.
