MR. ALEXANDER THOMAS KOSHMAN, beloved husband of Mrs. Kathleen Koshman, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael's Health Centre after a valiant battle with cancer on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Alex is survived by 4 sons; Terry, Ken, Ed (Rose) and Chris (Peggy), daughter Jennifer (Sandy), his beloved grandchildren Jordan, Tanner, Ashley, Everly, Justin, Derrick and Stephanie as well as a great grandson William. Alex is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Alex was born in Hardieville in 1914 where he was raised and where he and his father had a water hauling company. He also worked in numerous coal mines in the area. Alex joined the army in 1942 where he served overseas in the medical corp. as a nurses orderly. He met and married his lovely wife in London and after the war he brought Kathleen home to Shaughnessy where he was the fire boss in the Shaughnessy mine. They later moved to Lethbridge where he worked for Canada Post. Upon his retirement Alex became an avid gardener and was admired for the beautiful geraniums he grew in his greenhouse. Alex was a wonderful, caring person and his home was always open to both friends and family. In his younger years he played a mean harmonica and could yodel with the best of them. The last 10 months of his life was spent at the St. Michael's Health Centre where he met new friends and cleaned up almost every week at bingo. He got great joy in giving his wife a new teddy bear each week. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael's for their care, support and compassion for Alex as well as the family during such a trying time. You will always be in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. A private family Interment will precede the service.Send condolences
