JEAN WOOD KORTH, nee Turnbull, beloved wife of the late Henry Korth, of Lethbridge, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
Besides her loving husband Henry, Jean is predeceased by her dear sister Jackie Egan (Bill), Beth Wesley (Fred), Kay Avery (Ken), Leona Mueller (Rome), Francis Korth (Vonnie), James Korth (Grace) Ethel & Margaret Korth as well as her loving parents Holly and Bob Turnbull and aunts Jean, Clara, Laura and Eva - her mother's sisters.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins here and in the U.S.A., Scotland and Australia. Jean dearly loved each and every one.
Jean was born in Lethbridge on November 7, 1926, was raised and educated here. She worked for Canadian Pacific Railway from 1943 to 1977, the last six years in Calgary. Jean was from a railroading family - father, sister Jackie, husband Henry, maternal grandpa and paternal grandfather (Scotland) all had railroading in their blood. She was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church having served as an Elder, church school teacher, Cubmaster and a Girl Guide captain for the 45th I.O.D.E. She loved every minute of her time with these young folks and enjoyed watching many of them grow up, marry and have children of their own. Jean was a weaver and longtime member of the Lethbridge Handicraft Guild as well as belonging to the O.E.S. Laurel Chapter, Southern Alberta Rockhounds Association and the Alberta Pastoral Care Association, having been awarded the Alberta Pastoral Care Distinguished Service Award for the year 1992.
Jean enjoyed making things and her main hobbies were sewing, needlework of many types, keeping up family photo albums making teddy bears, reading and many other pastimes. Her home was her castle and she was never happier than when she was at home.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating with a reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. In memory of Jean, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
